A Taurus Tirfor handles the wire rope differently to a standard pulling winch. A standard winch wraps the rope around an internal drum and is normally electrically driven, which limits the pull to the length of rope on the drum. The Taurus Tirfor instead pulls the rope straight through the body using a dual jaw clamping mechanism, by hand, so the working length is set by the wire rope itself rather than a drum. The jaws grip in proportion to the load.
Each Taurus Tirfor is supplied as a working unit, complete with a 30 m wire rope, an operating lever and safety shear pins. The shear pins are the overload element of the machine. Send Toco the pulling capacity and the rope length the job calls for and Toco will quote and supply.
Each Taurus Tirfor carries a unique serial number that traces back to a manufacturer or seller Declaration of Conformity Certificate, supplied with the unit. The Taurus Tirfor is built to a 4:1 design factor under SANS 500 and EN 13157.
Toco supplies the Taurus Tirfor into a range of industrial sectors for pulling and tensioning work where a portable, hand operated machine and a long working length are needed.
| Sector | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Construction | Pulling and tensioning on site where no power source is at hand |
| Plant maintenance | Positioning and tensioning loads during installation and shutdowns |
| Mining | Portable pulling and tensioning for surface and plant work |
The working length is set by the wire rope fitted, so the Taurus Tirfor suits long pulls as well as short.
Toco supplies the Taurus Tirfor in three pulling capacities: 800 kg on an 8.3 mm wire rope, 1600 kg on an 11 mm wire rope, and 3200 kg on a 16 mm wire rope. Each is a hand operated inline jaw type machine. Contact Toco to confirm the right capacity for a specific duty.
A standard pulling winch wraps the wire rope around an internal drum and is normally electrically driven. A Taurus Tirfor pulls the rope straight through the body using a dual jaw clamping mechanism, by hand, so the working length is set by the rope rather than a drum and the machine stays portable.
Each Taurus Tirfor is supplied as a working unit, complete with a 30 m wire rope, an operating lever and safety shear pins. The shear pins act as the overload element. Other rope lengths are quoted on enquiry.
The Taurus Tirfor is built to a 4:1 design factor under SANS 500 and EN 13157. Each unit carries a unique serial number traceable to a manufacturer or seller Declaration of Conformity Certificate supplied with the machine.
