What we repair
Chain blocks, lever hoists and hoists, whether or not they were originally supplied by Toco. Both branches carry in house repair and testing facilities, so a unit is stripped, assessed, repaired and tested in one place.
Chain blocks are the first category on the LME 008 certificate, which is why a chain block repair and its certification sit together rather than in two different businesses. Lever hoists and hoists are repaired, tested and certified in the same workshop, under the oversight of an ECSA-registered Lifting Machinery Inspector.
What we do not repair
Toco does not repair winches. This is stated plainly so nobody sends one in expecting otherwise.
Toco does supply winches and the rope and cable that run on them, including hand winches, wire rope pulling machines, along with steel wire rope and synthetic winch rope. See winches and steel wire rope.
Load testing after repair
A repaired unit is examined and performance tested before it goes back into service. If it passes, it leaves with compliance documentation traceable to LME 008. If it fails, it is condemned and withdrawn rather than certified.

Turnaround and collection
Turnaround depends on the unit, the fault and parts availability. Confirm it on enquiry rather than assume it, and say if the unit is holding up a shutdown so it can be prioritised.

What if the unit is not worth repairing?
It is condemned and withdrawn from service rather than certified. Toco does not return an item to service that has not passed. Replacement units are quoted on request.
