Toco Lifting supplies Taurus lever hoist spare parts on request, and repairs, load tests and recertifies Taurus lever hoists in its own workshop. The correct part depends on the capacity and model of your hoist, so the Toco team confirms the right spares for the specific unit rather than working from a generic list. Inspections are carried out by an ECSA-registered Lifting Machinery Inspector, and the hoist is recertified following inspection.

Repair and servicing

Toco repairs chain blocks, lever hoists and hoists in house at the Germiston head office and the Cape Town branch. A hoist is stripped and assessed, worn components are replaced, and the unit is load tested and recertified before it returns to site. Toco provides both initial and after-sales support, so a hoist bought from Toco can be maintained, repaired and recertified by the same team that supplied it.

Load testing and recertification

Lifting tackle must be re-inspected every three months under Driven Machinery Regulation 18(10)(e) of the OHS Act, and Toco recertifies hoists following inspection. Where a Performance (Load) Test Certificate is issued, it is valid for twelve months. Testing is carried out on Toco's own equipment at Germiston, with load cells SANAS calibrated to 100 tons. Full detail of the testing scope is on the Lifting Equipment Testing & Certification page.

Standards

Taurus lever hoists comply with SANS 1636, the standard covering the manufacture, design and performance testing of manually operated chain lever hoists, and run load chain complying with SANS 1592. SANS 500 governs the inspection, testing and examination of hand-operated chain blocks and lever hoists in use. Replacing worn components with the correct parts is what keeps a hoist performing to those standards.

Yes. Toco repairs chain blocks, lever hoists and hoists in house at Germiston and Cape Town. The hoist is stripped and assessed, worn components are replaced, then the unit is load tested and recertified before it returns to site. Inspections are carried out by an ECSA-registered Lifting Machinery Inspector.

How often must a lever hoist be inspected?
