Taurus Lever Hoists South Africa: Medium Duty
Taurus lever hoists are medium-duty hoists ergonomically designed for maximum output efficiency and safe operation, and fitted with an OLL (overload limiter). These portable lifting devices are used in factories, mines, farms, construction sites, wharves, docks and warehouses for a wide variety of lifting and materials handling operations. Capacities range from 0.75 ton to 9 ton.
Toco Lifting supplies Taurus lever hoists from 0.75 ton to 9 ton across South Africa and the SADC region, models HSH-0.75 through HSH-9. Taurus is a medium duty range that gives sites a dependable, lower cost lever hoist for ratcheting, tensioning and confined space work. Taurus lever hoists comply with SANS 1636 and are fitted with SANS 1592 load chain, with an OLL (overload limiter) as a standard feature and double ratchet pawls. Each unit is supplied with a Performance (Load Test) Certificate, and Toco load tests and recertifies hoists in its own workshop.

Models HSH-0.75 through HSH-9, covering 0.75 ton to 9 ton, with one, two and three falls of load chain depending on capacity.
Specification
Taurus lever hoists comply with SANS 1636 and are fitted with SANS 1592 load chain. An OLL (overload limiter) is fitted as standard. Units carry double ratchet pawls, a free mechanism device designed so free spooling cannot be activated under load, and a mechanical friction braking system with high quality performance brake disks. The gearing assembly is not attached to the outer covers, which prevents external impact damage reaching the gears.
Taurus is a medium duty range. It is the right choice for general site work and lower duty cycles where a heavy duty hoist is more than the job needs. For sustained demanding service, ask about Vital®.
Testing and certification
A lever hoist can suspend a load and halt its motion when input energy stops, so it is supplied with a Performance (Load Test) Certificate. Toco carries out testing and recertification in its own workshop under the oversight of an ECSA registered Lifting Machinery Inspector.
