Supplied by Toco Lifting, lifting, lashing and rigging supplier since 2002.

Toco Lifting (Pty) Ltd supplies the 0.5 ton vertical drum grab across South Africa and SADC. The grab lifts and moves loaded drums on an overhead crane, chain block or lever hoist, gripping the drum so it stays secure through the lift. Built from structural carbon steel with heat treated hardened alloy steel jaws, it is supplied with a Conformance Inspection Certificate.

Toco Lifting is approved by the Department of Labour to undertake Conformance Inspections and Performance Testing (Load Testing) per approved SABS, SANS, or relevant OEM Standard. Toco has supplied lifting, lashing and rigging equipment since 2002, operating from a Germiston head office and a Cape Town branch. A drum grab is lifting tackle; it is supplied as conforming product and certified on enquiry.

What capacity drum grab does Toco supply?

Toco stocks the vertical drum grab in a 0.5 ton (500 kg) capacity. The rated capacity is the maximum working load the grab may lift; the loaded drum, including its contents, must stay within that limit.

The grab hangs from a crane hook, chain block or lever hoist by an 80 by 60 mm suspension eye, is suited to a drum length of 560 mm, and weighs 6.5 kg net, so it is easy to handle between lifts. The body is structural carbon steel, the gripping jaws are heat treated hardened alloy steel, and the unit has a painted finish.

If you need to handle drums heavier than 0.5 ton, or a different drum-handling arrangement, speak to Toco. Toco confirms the options, the matching certificate and the right equipment for the drum on enquiry.

Is a drum grab tested and certified?

A drum grab is lifting tackle rather than a lifting machine, so it cannot suspend or halt motion automatically once input energy stops. Where a certificate is required, a drum grab is supplied with a Conformance Inspection Certificate, and an OEM Certificate can be provided on request for imported stock where a manufacturing trace is needed.

Like all lifting tackle, a drum grab in service should be inspected at regular intervals and kept in good condition. Toco supplies the correct certification with the product on enquiry, and can inspect lifting tackle as part of its testing and certification service.

Which industries use drum grabs?

Drum grabs are used wherever loaded drums need to be moved safely and under control. Typical settings include refineries, oil and gas operations and daily preventative maintenance, among many other heavy industrial applications. Toco does not limit who it supplies; if your site handles drums, Toco can supply the equipment to lift them.
