Toco Lifting (Pty) Ltd is the sole authorised distributor of Vital® lever hoists in Southern Africa, supplying the Vital® VR2 ratchet lever hoist range in capacities of 0.25, 0.75, 1.5, 3, 6 and 9 ton. Vital® lever hoists are manufactured to SANS 1636, run on SANS 1592 load chain, are fitted with an overload limiter as standard, and are supplied on a standard 3 metre lift with a Performance (Load Test) Certificate.

Toco Lifting has supplied Vital® lifting equipment since 2002, operating from a Germiston head office and a Cape Town branch. As the sole authorised Southern African distributor of Vital®, Toco supplies, performance tests, certifies and recertifies the lever hoists it sells through its own workshop, so the unit arrives ready for service rather than shipped from a box.
The Vital® VR2 lever hoist is supplied in 0.25, 0.75, 1.5, 3, 6 and 9 ton capacities. The lower capacities run on a single fall of chain, the 6 ton on two falls and the 9 ton on three falls. Units are supplied on a standard 3 metre lift, and longer lift heights are available on request. Tell Toco the capacity and lift height you need and the team will confirm the right unit.
Vital® lever hoists are manufactured to SANS 1636, the South African standard for lever hoists, and run on SANS 1592 load chain. Inspection, maintenance and testing follow SANS 500. Because a lever hoist can suspend and hold a load, each unit is supplied with a Performance (Load Test) Certificate. Toco performs the load test and certification in its own workshop and advises the recertification interval on enquiry. Lifting machines in South Africa are examined and certified under Driven Machinery Regulation 18; see Toco’s DMR 18 compliance guide.
Toco does more than stock the hoist. Each unit is performance tested and certified in the Toco workshop before supply, and Toco recertifies the lever hoists it supplies through the same workshop. A buyer gets a hoist supplied, tested and certified by one accountable supplier, with the certificate to match. Contact the team to arrange testing and recertification.
Lever hoists lift, lower and tension a load by hand in positions a chain block cannot easily reach, horizontally, at an angle or in a confined space. Typical duties run across construction and structural work, plant and maintenance shutdowns, and mining and crane maintenance, among many other heavy industrial applications. Toco does not limit the range to set sectors; tell the team the duty and the unit is matched to it.
Yes. Toco Lifting is the sole authorised distributor of Vital® chain blocks and lever hoists in Southern Africa, and has supplied Vital® equipment since 2002. That means genuine Vital® units, correct load chain and access to genuine spare parts.
The Vital® VR2 lever hoist range covers 0.25, 0.75, 1.5, 3, 6 and 9 ton. The lower capacities use a single fall of chain, the 6 ton two falls and the 9 ton three falls. Units are supplied on a standard 3 metre lift, with longer lifts on request.
Vital® lever hoists are manufactured to SANS 1636 and run on SANS 1592 load chain, with inspection and testing to SANS 500. Each unit is supplied with a Performance (Load Test) Certificate.
Yes. Each lever hoist is performance tested and certified in the Toco workshop before supply, and Toco recertifies the units it supplies through the same workshop. Because a lever hoist can suspend a load, it carries a Performance (Load Test) Certificate rather than a conformance certificate. Contact the team to arrange testing and recertification.
Yes. An overload limiter is fitted as standard across the Vital® VR2 range, helping protect the hoist and operator if a load exceeds the rated working load limit. The limiter is not a substitute for working within the rated capacity and correct rigging practice.
